How to read the bible

Dear sister,

I have recently been trying to get into reading the bible. It has been something I have always wanted to do. However, I am feeling overwhelmed with the number of pages and books. Could you recommend some good strategies on how to read the bible?

Tell her the first and most official step is to earnestly pray asking that the Holy Spirit would awaken a fire and hunger for the word in her soul and spirit. After that she can begin by reading bit by bit. Just one little portion of scripture at a time is all that’s needed. At the end of the day it’s not so much the volume of scripture she can cover that counts. It’s the spiritual understanding and revelation of the portion that has been read which truly matters. Tell her to pray for that as well. Hopefully this would help. I pray her all the best in her effort.

This is for the sister who wants to start reading the bible: Yes I know it could be overwhelming,  but take a second to pray about what God is trying to say to you, ask Him for guidance before you even open it up. I would encourage you to start reading Philippians ( because it’s all about prayer and thanksgiving) that what helped me. Soak in His word, and just take it one step at a time. If something sticks put to you , stop and see how it may apply to your life because that may very well be God

Trying to speak to you. Or maybe look up verses pertaining to what you are going through and take it from there. I hope this helps.
